Four out of five players to represent Brunei-Malaysia Vikings Futsal team to compete in the upcoming National Futsal Teams Championship 2010 in Gold Coast, Australia from July 9-11 has already been identified.
They are Syed Abdul Mu'iz Hj Syed Anayatullah Shah, Fakhri Hj Bangkol, Abdul Muiz Shahrizan and Salehin Suhaimi.
According to the management of Brunei-Malaysia Vikings Futsal team, the last quota to fill up the fifth spot will be announce at a later time. It will be between Rosmini Hj Kahar or Ikmal Hakem Hj Yunus.
Head coach of Brunei Vikings Futsal team, Mohamad Sufri Tanjong said the players selected was based on their performance during the phase two centralised training.
"It is a tough decision to make, however, we need to choose five our of eight in the squad to represent the country. Those chosen are very experienced who have played in many local competitions and abroad," said Sufri.
The Brunei-Malaysia Vikings Futsal team will be leaving for Kuala Lumpur on July 5 to complete the final phase (third) centralised training before heading to Gold Coast two days later.
After competing in Australia, they are scheduled to compete in the Vikings Futsal World Futsal Championships in Kuala Lumpur from October 23-31.
Meanwhile, the Brunei-Malaysia Vikings Futsal team lost to Universiti Brunei Darussalam National Sports Festival (PSK) team 2-1 in a friendly match on Wednesday night.
Zulazri Gapor scored the early goal for UBD in the 4th minute before the Vikings Futsal team's Fakhri Hj Bangkol equalised in the third minute of the second-half. Md Faisal Mat Salleh netted the winning goal for UBD in the 63rd minute.

Five Bruneians to be selected for Gold Coast futsal meet

Five players from Brunei Darussalam will be selected to represent a combined team of Brunei-Malaysia Vikings futsal team to compete in the upcoming National Futsal Teams Championship 2010 in Gold Coast, Australia next month.
The young players who will make the country proud were revealed Monday night by Faizul Ali Anui, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Vikings Futsal Asean at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex Game Village meeting room in Berakas.
"Currently, there are eight Brunei players in the squad. We still need to see them play and to show us their capabilities during our stay here as we will only select the five best players to represent Vikings futsal team in a championship in Australia from July 9-11," said Faizul who was invited to the country by RizFiz Enterprise.
He said once the selection is done, the players will be combining with the Malaysian players to undergo phase two centralised training here in Brunei.
"We will be playing few friendly matches against local teams here. This is part of our three-phase scheduled training. In our first stop, first phase training (June 4-6) we managed to beat a local team in Miri winning 3-0," highlighted Faizul.
Brunei-based Vikings futsal team coached by Mohamad Sufri Tanjong will be flying off to Kuala Lumpur on July 5 to complete the final phase three centralised training before heading to Gold Coast two days later.
When asked about the final selection that will be made to represent Brunei's Vikings futsal, he said: "Every one of them has the potential to be a good futsal player. However, only five will be selected."
"The players chosen to represent Brunei-Malaysia Vikings futsal to Gold Coast will worth a valuable experience because we are also preparing our own Brunei Viking Futsal team to compete in the Vikings Futsal World Championships to be held in Kuala Lumpur from October 23-31 later this year," added Mohamad Sufri.
Yesterday, the Vikings Futsal team thrashed Royal Brunei Police Force National Sports Festival (PSK) team 7-2 in a friendly match at the Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium Multi-purpose hall in Gadong.
The friendly match will continue today against Universiti Brunei Darussalam (PSK) team at the UBD Sports Complex at 8pm.
Besides disclosing the players to the media, invited team managers, futsal players and individuals who attended the meeting Monday were also briefed about Vikings Futsal, a non-profitable organisation.
"We are calling on local futsal teams to have affiliation with us. We will automatically become a platform for the team here. As for our long-term plan, we are also planning to establish a league here," he said.
Vikings Futsal is a not-for-profit organisation which coordinates futsal activities across most of Australasia - Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales, Tasmania, Western Australia and New Zealand.
They have also formed strong links with futsal and football organisations in many countries which enables Vikings Futsal to organise annual tours to Brazil, Chile, Argentina, USA, China, United Kingdom, Japan, Spain, England, Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines.
It also provides many futsal-related services and products, including futsal merchandise, coaching clinics, referees, and coaching courses, competitions and tournaments for school and club teams, interstate tournaments and international tours.
